Can I book my Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) with you?

No. While we can help to prepare you, driving assessments are carried out by the Department of Transport and need to be booked with them.

I’m a parent or caregiver, can I attend the driving lesson with my learner driver?

Yes you can. Should you wish to accompany your learner driver you must let us know at the time of booking – we need to obtain permission from all parties.

Do RDDA lessons contribute to logbook hours?

Yes, we log any hours you spend completing lessons with us into your logbook.

How can I book a driving lesson?
You can book a driving lesson through any of the following ways:
How much notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson?

We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. This allows us to book other clients in for that time.

How can I pay?

Preferable method of payment is EFTPOS either at the time of booking, on the day or over the phone.
We also work with a number of businesses to assist employees in their licensing journey – if you are completing driving lessons as part of your employment you can provide a Purchase Order.

How long do driving lessons go for?
Our standard driving lessons are 60mins in length and cost $75. Double lessons can also be booked, these are two hours in length and cost $150. Book a lesson here.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my lesson?

You MUST bring your learner’s permit. Without this, we cannot allow you to drive our vehicles. We also recommend bringing your logbook, a water bottle and comfortable, closed-in shoes.

Where can I sit my theory learners test?

Our office in Roebourne is calm and peaceful and you are welcome to sit your test here without any external pressures. The Department of Transport in Karratha also provides a testing area if you would prefer to take the test and receive your permit on the spot.

What do I need to sit my theory test?

In order to sit your theory test, a combination of five original documents must be presented to verify your full name, date of birth and current residential address (proof of residency in WA). These documents must meet the Department of Transport’s proof of identity requirements as outlined here: Your Secure Identity Meeting proof of identity requirements for initial applications (transport.wa.gov.au)

How does RDDA work with the Department of Transport in regards of practical driving assessments?

A number of times a year, Remote Services from the Department of Transport will come out to Roebourne to conduct practical driving assessments (PDAs).  Department of Transport do not take bookings over this period, it is, first in best dressed! We’ll promote these visits through the local Roebourne Community Calendar and our social media platforms.

If you are unable to provide your own car for the PDA, you may hire one of our vehicles at a cost of $110 for the hour. Book a car here.

Do you offer any package deals on lessons?
If you buy four 60 minute lessons, we’ll give a fifth lesson for free. You can book this deal through our online booking system here, or send us an email at coordinator@reddirtdriving.com.au
What if I have trouble reading theory test questions?

If you’re having difficulty reading or understanding your theory test our RDDA team are able to help clarify questions. Please note, we are unable to give hints or answers.

If I fail my theory test am I allowed to try again?

If you don’t pass your theory test you are able to sit it again. You can either wait until you’re feeling more confident or come right back in the next day and try again.

Is sitting my theory test free?

It is free to sit your Learner’s Theory Test in our Roebourne office. You can also sit at the Department of Transport in Karratha – the test there is computerised and costs $20.20, with each supplementary costing $16.10.
